Graham Shackleton is an independent photographer living in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, his work takes inspiration from people, places and objects - often making a less usual connection between them. Creative thinking mixed with technical ability gives him a chameleon quality; he can make an object flawless in a studio while retaining the imagination to draw out personality – his vision is appealing and dynamic.
Always lively, energetic and confident, it’s never enough for Graham to make something attractive or stylish he wants to capture fleeting reality - the ‘something’ that makes any given moment unique. He sees photography as a passion and a great adventure. One morning he will wake with sunrise to shoot architecture in golden light, the next night he will be encouraging a band to travel to an elaborate backdrop - lighting the landscape with the stars and a flash.
There is no distinction between Graham and his profession, the same spirit runs through his photography and life. He is upbeat, open minded and hugely inspired by his other big passions science, music and art. As expected he is most switched on behind the lens - working unobtrusively looking for the best lighting, setting up a shot, soaking up the atmosphere and pre-empting the incredible. More than decorative, his photographs tell a story and capture energy.
